3D Modeling

3D Modeling is in that list of hobbies for me that are in the category of "I engage with this once every few years, obsess over it for a month or two, and then never do anything with it again", rinse and repeat.

It's funny to think about my relationship to 3D Modeling because it was always one of those things that I was always too intimidated to get into.

Then I randomly jumped into it back in 2016, binging a Blender tutorial on Youtube and getting really mad at myself when I realized modeling was a lot easier than I had scared myself into thinking LMAO

I got really excited and made a few OC models, only to get bored and not do any 3D for years. I learned I like the sculpting and the texturing process, but really dislike the rigging and animation aspects :') Oh well, at least there's Mixamo.

2024

I was working during 2024, and during that time, my drive for art and drawing was at all time low, with Pixel Art being most of the art I managed to get out.

Watching videos at work, I came across some low poly stuff, and that's how I learned about a program named Blockbench, and with that, the pleasant discovery that not only it feels like the Paint Tool SAI of 3D programs, but that it had a browser version, which meant I could work on models during calmer hours at work, and the pixel art style made it easier for me to texture them, not mention a lot more fun to work on than my previous models.

My topology still needs a LOT of work, but considering the only thing I do with these models is throw them on Mixamo to make them do funny dances, I don't think it's much of an issue for now. :)

2021-2018

These were the last models I made before I started doing the lowpoly style!

I was under some delusions of working for Riot Games to create Aurelion Sol skins and made two models based on some skin concepts I had designed, but looking back, they've both aged rather poorly hehehe
I would like to remake them at some point just for fun

2017-2016

My introduction to 3D was stubborn, as in that instead of starting with something simple when I had zero experience on it, I decided that I had to start right away with a full model of my OC Malice who was my fixation at the time. it went... Well. Except that I got a bunch of blind spots for some of the basics that I happened to skip in this process LMAO
